PosePointer 0.3 and the anatomy mirror

PosePointer is a Chrome extension that turns an ordinary webcam into touch-free mouse input. Hand tracking runs on the device, and the gestures reach the open tab as trusted mouse events, so an existing website responds without being changed. It started this month as Touchless Bridge.

What 0.3 adds

Double and right click. One cursor per hand, aimed with a ray and pressed with a pinch. Two-finger touch. And a full-screen anatomy mirror, opened from the extension's panel. It is in private testing and not yet in the Chrome Web Store.

Why an anatomy mirror

Before software I worked in corrective exercise therapy, helping people understand how they move. The mirror lays a 3D model of the hand and forearm muscles and bones over your own hands on the webcam, so you can see what moves when you point, pinch or open your hand. A slider fades the camera image to show more anatomy. The models are BodyParts3D from DBCLS, under CC BY 4.0.

Try the mirror with a webcam. Laptops with Chrome or Edge get the full 3D anatomy; phones get a lighter hand wireframe.
